Music educator and pianist Megan Mui believes that music is a beautiful and enriching lifelong endeavor that anyone can learn. Specializing in the Suzuki Piano Method, she aims to share this outlook with her students through a fun and encouraging learning environment.

Megan first fell in love with teaching in 2008 and has since maintained private studios in San Diego and San Ramon, CA. She has experience working with a wide variety of students from age 4 to age 80 and from those just beginning their piano journey with Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star to those exploring some of the greatest classical masterworks. In addition to Suzuki pedagogy, her teaching is informed by the ergonomic Taubman approach to piano technique, the playfulness of music literacy through games and activities such as Music Mind Games, and her experience as a collaborative pianist and lifelong student that taught her the importance of being a part of a musical community.

Megan holds dual degrees in piano performance and cognitive science from the University of California, San Diego and has been training in Suzuki piano pedagogy with Caroline Fraser since 2014. She has also completed student teaching at the Holy Names University Preparatory Music Department in Oakland, CA and at the Diablo Valley College Music Department in Pleasant Hill, CA.

Megan is an active member of the Suzuki Association of Americas, Suzuki Music Association of California – Bay Area Piano Branch, and the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) in which she served on the Alameda East Branch Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020.
